WaterFront: clean water for the world

More than a billion people around the world are deprived of a reliable source of drinking water; many from lack of sufficient infrastructure or as a result of a sudden disaster. In response to the demand for small-scale decentralized filtration systems, Norit Membrane Technology developed its WaterFront Series for treating any quality of fresh surface water to produce high-quality drinking water.

The systems are designed to produce clean and safe drinking water either temporarily during humanitarian disasters, or special events, or as a more permanent solution in rural/remote camps, event venues, work sites, and villages. The capacity of these small-scale, mobile purification units, which are based on ultrafiltration (UF) membrane technology, range from 2,000 to 3,000 liters per hour (530 to 800 gallons per hour). Each Norit WaterFront unit runs on direct electricity or a gas-powered generator. The system is fully automatic with a one-button start-up.

The Norit WaterFront Series is the ideal solution for a wide variety of applications where a centralized drinking water supply is not available.

How does a WaterFront system work?

Each WaterFront unit is a plug-and-play system. Using the equipped submersible pump water is taken from the source and is fed directly into the WaterFront unit. A pre-filter strainer removes larger particles from the feed water. From there the water is filtered through Norit X-Flow’s proven UF membranes, which remove suspended solids including viruses and bacteria.

Decentralized water treatment solutions

The Norit WaterFront Series consists of two standard systems, each with a unique purpose.

1. The Norit Water Miracle - for long-term installations
The Norit Water Miracle is the ideal solution for permanent or semi-permanent installations such as stationary units at a work site or emergency back-up for a municipality. Equipped with Norit X-Flow membranes as a primary barrier, there are two versions available delivering either 2,000 liters (530 gal) or 3,000 liters (800 gal) of safe drinking water per hour. A range of optional post-treatment add-ons are available to meet specific needs. Depending on the quality of the source an activated carbon, ultraviolet (UV) and/or chlorine disinfection package can be added to serve as additional barriers.

2. The Perfector-E - for emergency response
The ruggedness of the Perfector-E with its integrated double barrier treatment system - membranes plus UV - makes it the ultimate emergency response water system regardless of the source water conditions. Designed to be mobile, the Perfector-E with its stainless steel frame and backwash tank, can be transported from location to location as needed. The Perfector-E is capable of providing 2,000 liters (530 gal) of high-quality drinking water per hour. The included full service contract ensures the unit will be maintained properly for optimal performance while it is on or off duty.
